HEMLOCK— Today, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) hosted a press conference announcing new federal funding initiatives to support mid-Michigan kids and young adults through child care, community violence prevention, and workforce development. Congresswoman McDonald Rivet was joined at Hemlock Elementary/Early Childhood Center by school officials and parents to discuss how the funding will help young families in the community.

FLINT— On Saturday, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) continued her fight to protect Job Corps by hosting a rally alongside community leaders and Job Corps students who attend the Flint Genesee campus. The event highlighted the impact Job Corps has had on young people in mid-Michigan and how the region would lose out if it is shut down. 

WASHINGTON— Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08), along with Representatives Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), and Shri Thanedar (MI-13) have called on Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer to immediately reverse the abrupt decision to pause operations at Job Corps centers nationwide.

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) announced new federal grant funding has been awarded to Flint’s Mass Transportation Authority (MTA). 

The $11,969,176 grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration. The funding will help the MTA maintain and expand service routes across Genesee County, as well as upgrade buses, stations, and facilities.
