At a time when everything costs too much, the last thing we should do is make your health insurance more expensive. But that is exactly what will happen if Congress fails to extend the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits this year. One in seven Americans utilizes these credits, and if we don’t renew them, health insurance premiums will skyrocket for everybody. A typical working family could see their insurance bills more than double, and millions will lose coverage entirely. In mid-Michigan, rates will shoot up by more than $700.

It is unacceptable, so I have been leading the charge to extend the ACA tax credits immediately. I co-sponsored a bill to extend them permanently, and I am leading 36 of my colleagues in demanding to Congressional Leadership that we take action now, before 2026 rates become fixed and notices go out.

Your insurance rate notice will be mailed soon, if it has not been already. We want to know how this is impacting you, and we want to help.
