Dear {{prefix}} {{lastname}},

Thank you for signing up for my e-newsletter! I'm excited to regularly update you on what I'm doing to fight for you. As always, please don't be afraid to reach out to my office if you need help navigating a federal agency or to share how you feel about an issue.

If you have any friends or family who would like to keep up with our office, please forward this newsletter to them or ask them to sign up here.

May was another busy month of fighting for mid-Michigan both in the district and in D.C. Here are some of the highlights. . .

Standing Up for Medicaid & Food Assistance
Image removed.

I voted against House Republicans' extreme tax package that strips away health care and food while cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans. It is already too hard for working families to make ends meet, and this tax package will make things even harder.

I spoke out about how ripping away health care and taking food off the plates of hungry kids will hurt working families in mid-Michigan.

Supporting Law Enforcement

I announced my new effort to support law enforcement and prevent crime in mid-Michigan. I'm requesting new resources for the Saginaw Police Department, Bay County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police, and the Flushing Police Department to make sure our police officers have the tools they need to keep mid-Michigan safe.

Successfully Serving You

Every day our team helps people navigate issues with federal agencies, including Social Security, the IRS, and the VA. Below are some of our success stories from this month.

  • A woman from Swartz Creek was missing her 2024 tax refund. After our team reached out to the IRS, her refund was unfrozen and she received over $11,000.
  • A family from Flint approached our team after Medicare claimed their grandmother Betty S. owed $22,500 from services provided in 2001 after an injury. After our team intervened, Medicare corrected the case and dropped her debt.

If you are having trouble with a federal agency, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office. We are here to help!

Demanding Relief for Midland County Flood Victims

It's unacceptable that communities in Midland County are still waiting for recovery assistance from the 2020 floods. That's why I teamed up with Congressman John Moolenaar (R-Caledonia) to seek answers on the status of federal relief funds for the victims.

Remembering Trooper Joel Popp

I spoke on the House floor to pay tribute to the late Michigan State Police Trooper Joel E. Popp after his name was added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Repealing the EV Mandate

You should get to choose what kind of car is right for you. I voted to repeal California’s ban on gas-powered vehicles because it would raise costs on families, take away your choices, and hurt auto jobs, including many here in mid-Michigan.

Leading PFAS Task Force

I was proud to announce I will be co-chairing the Congressional PFAS Task Force alongside fellow Michigan Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania, and Congresswoman Jen Kiggans from Virginia.

We need to address the problems PFAS chemicals create head-on. On the Congressional PFAS Task Force, I will work with Republicans and Democrats to raise awareness of the risk of PFAS chemicals and advocate for commonsense solutions for our community.

Sincerely,
