Rep. McDonald Rivet Statement on Extreme Government Funding Bill
WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) released the following statement after voting against this evening’s government funding bill.
“I stand with my district, so there’s no way I could support something so dangerous for working families and seniors. This bill would strip away funding for law enforcement, veterans care, child care, infrastructure repairs, and more in mid-Michigan,” said Congresswoman McDonald Rivet. “It also leaves Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid completely vulnerable on Elon Musk’s chopping block, even as he targets one of our district's Social Security offices for closure. Instead of passing a package that hurts communities like mid-Michigan, we should pass a budget which lowers costs and prioritizes working people.”
