Rep. McDonald Rivet Honors the Anniversary of the Grand Blanc Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Attack

FLINT— Today, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) released the following statement commemorating the one-year anniversary of the attack on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan. 

“One year ago, while gathering to worship, parishioners at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc suffered an unimaginable terror attack. I join the community in remembering the four victims, extending our prayers to their families and fellow congregants, and standing with the community as we remember the tragedies of that day. 

“Today, we also honor the heroic first responders who were on the scene in a matter of seconds. The remarkable speed and decision-making of our 911 dispatchers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and paramedics saved lives.

“In the days, weeks, and months since, neighbors have come together to grieve, heal, and find the light under the motto, ‘Grand Blanc, Better Together.’ In the wake of an unimaginable tragedy, the Church and its community have shown us the power of faith and hope. As they break ground tonight, all of mid-Michigan will be behind them with love and support.”

Later tonight, Congresswoman McDonald Rivet will join the Church at the groundbreaking of its new stake center.
