McDonald Rivet Statement on White House Tariff Announcement

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) released the following statement after President Trump announced new tariffs. 

“Plain and simple, President Trump’s tariffs will raise costs on working class Michigan families at a time when we can least afford it. The far-reaching nature of these tariffs increases uncertainty for Michigan manufacturers, which will not only further raise prices on countless goods, but also threaten the livelihoods of farmers and workers,” said Congresswoman McDonald Rivet. “Lowering costs and bringing good paying jobs to Michigan are my top priorities in Congress. I will support any policy that does that, including strategic tariffs, but these are dangerous for our workers and the economy.”
