WNEM: Rep. McDonald Rivet Excited About Committee Appointments
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNEM) - Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet has been appointed to the House Committee on Agriculture and House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.
She said she’s happy with the appointments because it will help her carry out her goals to help mid-Michigan.
Both committees are known for their bipartisanship, and McDonald Rivet is confident they will get work done.
“I know there is an expectation from people in Michigan, because we are very practical people, that we roll up our sleeves and we get to work because the constant chaos, fighting, you know, partisan bickering- that doesn’t, that doesn’t help people,” McDonald Rivet said. “And, you know, I have found a lot of people here that want to work with me and do those practical, important things, and that’s where my focus is.“
She and the House Committee on Agriculture are expected to author the farm bill which would dictate national agriculture, nutrition, conservation and forestry policy.
The House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure is expected to work on the surface transportation bill to improve roads, bridges and public transportation.
