SAGINAW, Mich. — Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) spent Friday morning in Saginaw marking the 91st anniversary of Social Security with local seniors.
She hosted a roundtable at the Castle Museum’s Morley Room, where mid-Michigan seniors spoke about protecting Social Security and how rising costs are affecting people on fixed incomes.
“Financially, Social Security is at risk going into the future,” McDonald Rivet said. “We see a lack of priority in congress that puts the social security trust fund in jeopardy.”
The discussion focused on keeping benefits strong and making it easier for older adults to afford everyday expenses.
